my year
This whole year at Ball State has been a learning experience. From new drinking games to Mythological studies I have learned so much. My most valuable lessons that I have learned are in English 101 and 102. I happen to love this class. Not only do I learn a new thing every day, but as i am learning I am having fun in a laid back environment and all my fellow students are learning with me. I really enjoy writing so being in this class has really opened my eyes. It has taught me that I need to be more responsible with my writing. I need sources, and in paper citation, and in highschool for me this wasn't stressed as much, so this year I am learning not to blow it off. It is very hard, but other then that I am right on target with learning. At first I had no idea what Rhetorical Analysis was and I am now beginning to like it. Over all this class taught me so much, and stuff that I am beginning to love.

Final Portfolio
It is that time of year when it is all about hustle and bustle, and rushing everything to get good grades. In English as usual we have an end of term portfolio to turn in as our final. With my 17 hour schedule, this has been a little bit more stressful then the past semester. Which i am going to argue as to why I have been slacking a little bit this semester. The last class Karen asked us if we were ready for english 104. I honestly think I am very prepared. My writing has developed quite a bit and I actually understand a lot more of english then last semester. Logos, Pathos, and Ethos are a lot more clear to me. I still slack with in paper citation, but mostly in my rough drafts i am just too lazy to write it down.
Even though i am stressed I will admit that i actually enjoy this portfolio. I really like just taking a break from some level 300 classes, and other difficult ones in my 17 hours. The portfolio lets me reflect on my progress and organize my thoughts. I also can perfect something for once, and emphasize my points, and finally just sit back, breathe, relax, and write.
This year has been such a great experience, it also made me much more open about my writing, and letting people give me advice, instead of being stubborn and always being right about my writing.
Thank you for such a delightful exeriance Karen! :)

Discussion Leader
This past week we started to revise our past projects for our portfolio this semester. This semester we are doing it completely different. Instead of revising our papers our selves, or with just a few people we are starting to read it out loud to our classmates. There is also a discussion leader who leads the discussion about what is good about the paper, and or what needs some work. We go around the room individually and critique the individuals paper.
I think this helps so much more then what we did before. This way everyone is forced to say something destructive, and something that the author of the paper can use. Also you hear a lot of different opinions, then just hearing the same ones over and over.
I am not looking forward to reading my paper out loud, but in the long run it will help me a lot more, and hopefully get me a better grade.

SLIIIIDEEE SHOOWWW
It was a normal day, I get out of bed just in time to make it to class, careless to what my appearance looks like. I sit down at the computer/desk that I always do, and karen walks around to each of us students and hand us a marker, me being the difficult person I am try to change colors, sadly that was impossible. Then Karen told us to write down something that you learned about taking english, I wrote something about revision. Then she came around with a camera, and i though, "NOOO PICTURES." and not even just pictures, Karen decides to take all the individual pictures from all the students and puts them on a slide show.
personally i thought the slide show was really neat. It was cool how a lot of the students had such different responses, I thought people would feel the same as me, but it was really proven here how different people perceive information we learned, when we are learning all the same, and all together.
